Louisville is famous as the home of the Kentucky Derby which is the held the first Saturday in May. The 2010 race is the culmination of events and festivities throughout the year. The Derby Festival Spelling Bee is held in March followed by a student art display of kids favorite derby events. April the events intensify with fashion shows, luncheons, a golf tournament, running events, and even a bed making contest.
The Dogwood Arts Festival in Knoxville runs the entire month of April and showcases the best of the Knoxville regional visual and performing arts. 2010 is the 50th anniversary of the event with many exciting events to see or participate in. Noteworthy is 'A Very Special Arts Festival' in April where children with mental and physical challenges celebrate the arts in a mini festival. The Dogwood Parade is also held in April along with a variety of other events.
