Hawkins Field

There are few better ways to experience a full day of fun in Nashville than with a day out at the ballpark. Head for Hawkins Field, home of the Vanderbilt University Commodores baseball team. You can find Hawkins Field on the Vanderbilt campus, adjacent to the Vanderbilt Stadium and Vanderbilt University Memorial Gymnasium. 

Opened in 2002, Hawkins Field seats 3,700 fans come game day. This impressive baseball venue was named after Charles Hawkins III, a Vanderbilt University benefactor. The Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team kicks off their season each year in February, and they play through May.

Historic Mansker's Fort

Frozen in 1779, the Historic Mansker's Fort is set in Goodlettsville just north of the Nashville area. Settled along Avery's Trace, Mansker's Fort is an interactive museum offering tours weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Known to be the longest standing brick structure in mid-Tennessee, the Bowen Plantation House is also found at Mansker's Fort. Constructed in 1787, this historic site was the former home of Captain William Bowen of the Revolutionary War.

Tennessee travelers may also check out the free museum in the Historic Mansker's Station Visitor Center for exhibits and further information. The museum is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lipscomb University

As one of the top private liberal arts schools in the state, Lipscomb University is an ideal destination for high school seniors visiting Tennessee. Head for Nashville and discover Lipscomb just south of Interstate 440 along Shackleford Road and Granny White Pike.

Lipscomb University was established in 1891 as the Nashville Bible School. Today, Lipscomb features a diverse student body, a wide range of degree programs, and a charming urban campus spread across 83 acres. Explore the campus and check out Bison Square, and the Allen Bell Tower. The Lipscomb Bisons compete within the Atlantic Sun Conference. 

Radnor Lake State Park

Found just south of downtown Nashville, Radnor Lake State Park is 1,332 acres of lush landscapes, exceptional lakeside fun, and so much more. 

Also known to some as Radnor Lake State Natural Area, this site was developed as a recreation site for visitors and locals in 1973. Protected as a Class II Natural Area, Radnor Lake SP features the Historic Valve House Trail, which opened in 2011. Be sure to also check out the Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center. Tennessee State University

Established in 1912, Tennessee State University is just one member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and is open to the public. The TSU Tigers football team plays home games at Nissan Stadium.
