Andrew Johnson National Historic Site

Honoring and preserving the memory of one of America's little known presidents, the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site includes two of Johnson's homes, his tailor shop, and his grave site within the Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. Housed within the site, the visitor complex consists of a visitor's center, a museum detailing the president and his life, and the much unchanged tailor shop.

The president lived in the house from 1869 to 1875 and fully owned the 23 acre property upon his death in eastern Tennessee. The complex's appearance since then has been virtually unchanged and allows for visitors to step back and reflect upon some of America's most tumultuous times, including the circumstances of Johnson's famous impeachment. The site is located between Morristown, Newport, and Johnson City.

Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center

Check out the Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center on your next visit northeastern Tennessee. Found in White Pine, a charming and quaint town east of Knoxville, the Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center is part of the Walters State Community College campus. Opened in 1996, the GSM Expo Center hosts a variety of events throughout the year, like stock shows, graduations, and even BMX tournaments.

At the GSM Expo Center, you'll find the Pavilion, a 98,000 square foot area with seating for 3,900, and the Show Ring, measuring in at 300' x 150'. There's also the Ray and Barbara Bible Equestrian Complex, which houses 408 horse stalls and a 22,000 square foot warm-up ring. If you're in town just passing through, or if you're a fan of the equestrian arts, check out the Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center in White Pine.

Lincoln Memorial University

Lincoln Memorial University is non-profit, private school found in northeastern Tennessee, just along the border of TN-KY, in the city of Harrogate. Established in 1897, Lincoln Memorial University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and is northwest of Morristown. The school is named in honor of Abraham Lincoln

Make your way onto the campus at Lincoln Memorial and check out the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum, home to one of the largest collections of Lincoln artifacts in the state. In collegiate athletics, the LMU Railsplitters are a part of the South Atlantic Conference. They have 14 varsity level teams. Rose Center for the Arts

Any visit to Morristown in eastern Tennessee should involve a tour of the Rose Center for the Arts. Located inside a 19th century Victorian schoolhouse, the Rose Center is the epicenter for art, culture, and history in Morristown. Each fall in Morristown, the Rose Center for the Arts hosts the biggest festival in town – the Mountain Makins. Check it out and help celebrate a rich history of Appalachian culture. 

Built in 1892, the schoolhouse where the Rose Center for the Arts is found was the first ever co-ed high school in Morristown. It's named for Judge James G. Rose, a local Civil War veteran. Up until 1975, the building had operated as a school, but was shut down due to lack of funds. Public art supports and enthusiasts were able to raise funds to re-introduce the building as the Rose Center for the Arts in the same year.
